Dr. Jay Calvert, Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon, performs ethnic rhinoplasty in his Beverly Hills and Newport Beach locations. Ethnic rhinoplasty is a term often ascribed to all non-caucasian rhinoplasty operations that require the surgeon to be very tuned in to what the patient would like to achieve while minding their ethnicity. In this case, the video shows a Filipino woman who wanted to have her bridge augmented and her base narrowed without changing her overall look.
Ethnic Rhinoplasty in this case means a building of the bridge, narrowing of the tip and narrowing of the alar base.
This type of rhinoplasty can performed with rib cartilage, ear cartilage, or septal cartilage and deep temporalis fascia. A diced cartilage and fascia graft makes the dorsal graft so that there is no need for a silicone implant. Though silicone implants work well for most patients, there are many that do not tolerate the implant or need it removed due to infection, malposition, or other problems. Replacing the implant with a diced cartilage and fascia graft can solve these problems right away.
